TAIPEI (Taiwan News) — The Ministry of Health and Welfare announced new measures taking effect in November, including subsidies of up to NT$150,000 (US$4,800) for in vitro fertilization.

The Health Promotion Administration said the IVF Subsidy 3.0 program for infertility treatment will expand support to reduce the financial burden on couples seeking IVF. Women under 39 are eligible for up to NT$150,000 for the first attempt, and NT$100,000 for the second and third attempts.

Women aged 39 to under 45 are eligible for up to NT$130,000 for the first attempt, and NT$80,000 for the second and third attempts. The HPA reminded couples that under the new rules, those under 39 may implant only one embryo per attempt.

Those aged 39–44 may implant up to two embryos. The policy aims to protect maternal and infant health and encourage couples facing infertility to make early use of assisted reproduction subsidies.

Based on the number of applicants in previous years and an estimated increase of at least 10% in applications following the subsidy boost, more than 30,000 couples are expected to benefit in 2026. With the higher subsidy amounts, the administration’s total annual budget for subsidies is estimated at NT$2.7 billion.
