TAIPEI (Taiwan News) — The Ruifang Precinct received a report on Monday about human bones at Longdong Rock Climbing Yard in New Taipei's Gongliao District.

The police discovered human ribs, a pelvis, a skull, and clothing belonging to the deceased. Preliminary investigations suggest the time of death was more than a month ago, per CNA.

A health insurance card was found in the deceased's clothing, identifying him as a 44-year-old missing man surnamed Lee (李). The family has been notified, and a DNA comparison will confirm his identity.

The police said no signs of a struggle were found at the scene. Preliminary investigations have ruled out the possibility of homicide.

Due to the presence of only skeletal remains, the exact cause of death will require further investigation. The Ruifang Precinct has requested an autopsy by forensic experts and prosecutors from the Keelung District Prosecutors Office.

In March, three sets of human skeletal remains were discovered in rice sacks at an abandoned dormitory in Keelung's Nuannuan District. One of the remains is suspected to belong to a bone collector who abandoned them after fleeing due to debt.
