This Queenstown Stall Has Handmade La Mian With Onsen Egg And Pork Belly From $4

Bukit Merah is one of my favourite hangouts. There’s a routine I follow whenever I’m there: enjoy a cup of coffee at Rookie’s Coffee Shop, then head to Alexandra Village Food Centre for lunch, before ending my day at IKEA. On my recent visit to the hawker centre, I discovered Lye Bo Toss Noodle. Run by young hawkers, this stall serves roast meat noodles with a fun twist—instead of the usual egg noodles in wonton mee, you get handmade la mian!

With its reasonable prices and generous portions, it’s no wonder Lye Bo Toss Noodle has so many regulars. Their Roasted Pork Belly Noodles and Char Siew Noodles are priced at $5 each, or $4.50 for rice instead of noodles. We recommend getting the Combo ($6), which features springy tossed noodles in a spicy house-made sauce, topped with crispy, crackling pork belly, grilled char siew, and some veggies.

The tossed noodles are handmade and cooked till al dente so they are not too firm or brittle. For some punch, you can add a scoop of their chilli sauce and give everything a good mix.

Here’s another combination that works: Minced Pork with Onsen Egg ($4) topped with a thick strip of Pan Fried Grill Pork Belly ($5). Get this if you love meat!

If a whole pork belly is too much, you can just get Char Siew Noodles with an Onsen Egg ($1) to add extra creaminess to your noodles.

For easy access, the nearest MRT Station to Lye Bo Toss Noodle is Queenstown, where you take bus 195 from Exit B.

Address: 120 Bukit Merah Lane 1, #01-27, Alexandra Village Food Centre, Singapore 150123
Opening hours: Fri-Wed 9am to 2pm
Lye Bo Toss Noodle is not a halal-certified eatery.
