Two 16-year-olds remanded as cops wrap up probe into viral Myvi attack, case sent to DPP

The investigation paper on the viral case involving a group of men who surrounded and kicked a Perodua Myvi last Sunday will be referred to the Deputy Public Prosecutor’s (DPP) office today.

Serdang District Police Chief Assistant Commissioner Muhamad Farid Ahmad said two more teenage boys, both aged 16, were arrested in Puchong yesterday in connection with the incident.

“The two suspects have been remanded until tomorrow to assist in the investigation, and we will refer the investigation paper to the DPP for further action,” he said briefly when met at the Petaling Jaya District Police Chief Handover Ceremony here today.

It is understood that one of the teenagers arrested yesterday is suspected of breaking the rear windscreen of the victim’s car.

Earlier, media reports said nine suspects, including six teenagers, had already been arrested over the incident.

All suspects, aged between 13 and 21, were detained in a series of arrests around Puchong and Shah Alam on Sunday and Monday.

Muhamad Farid previously said the arrests followed a police report lodged by a 52-year-old security guard.

​Earlier reports also stated that police were hunting for about 20 motorcyclists who acted violently by surrounding, punching and kicking a Perodua Myvi in an incident that went viral on social media.

During the frightening ordeal near the Batu 13 Toll Plaza in Puchong, the car’s driver, a 52-year-old security guard, endured moments of terror as he was encircled by the gang of road thugs.
