Pasir Gudang motorcyclist crushed under bus after crash with van

​A 19-year-old motorcyclist was killed after he was dragged under a bus following a crash at the Jalan Masai Kong Kong-Jalan Betik 1 junction here yesterday.

Seri Alam district police chief Assistant Commissioner Mohd Sohaimi Ishak said the victim died at the scene of the 7.30am incident, Berita Harian reported.

He said the accident occurred when the Yamaha Y15 motorcycle the victim was riding towards Jalan Masai was hit by a van exiting a junction to make a right turn.

“The victim could not avoid the collision and struck the front left side of the van before falling and getting dragged under a bus coming from the opposite direction,” he was quoted as saying.

​Mohd Sohaimi said the 54-year-old van driver has been detained to assist investigations, adding that the case is being investigated under Section 41(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987 for causing death by reckless or dangerous driving.

Under the law, those convicted face five to 10 years in jail, a fine of RM20,000 to RM50,000, and disqualification from driving for at least five years.
