Grisly find: In Sarawak, human head and body parts found in crocodile’s belly after attack in Bintulu

Human body parts including a head, jaw, stomach and thigh covered in flesh were discovered inside the belly of a crocodile that was captured in Sungai Semanok, Tatau, in the Bintulu Division yesterday.

According to a report in Harian Metro, a spokesperson from the Sarawak Fire and Rescue Department (JBPM) Operations Centre said the remains are believed to belong to Jeffery Masing Win, 21.

The victim was attacked by the reptile while bathing in a stream with his brother at about 8.30pm last Saturday.

During the incident, his brother tried to rescue him by lunging at the aggressive crocodile but failed, as the animal dragged Jeffery into the river and disappeared.

The search and rescue (SAR) operation, in its fourth day yesterday, yielded results when villagers managed to spot and capture the crocodile suspected of attacking the victim at 9.25am yesterday.

The villagers tied up the reptile and hauled it ashore near Rumah Panjang Win.

Rescue teams comprising JBPM, the Royal Malaysia Police (PDRM), the Civil Defence Force (APM) and the Sarawak Forestry Corporation (SFC) rushed to the scene after receiving the report.

A post-mortem on the crocodile’s carcass was carried out by SFC personnel with assistance from firefighters at 10.30am.

“As a result, several human body parts were found in the animal’s stomach.

“The procedure concluded at around 11.10am, and the remains were handed over to the police for further action,” the spokesperson said.
