DHL Provides An Absurd Amount Of Packaging For A Tiny Battery Charger

When you order something online, the expectation is that it will be delivered to you in packaging that manages to protect your purchase while wasting as little material as possible.

There’s really no reason that it shouldn’t be this way. It makes an incredible amount of sense.

For example, if you buy a poster, it will probably come in an appropriately sized tube and not a 2×3 envelope. If you’re sending a letter, you don’t throw it inside an empty refrigerator box and send it on its way. You’d think it would be self explanatory, but based on this video from Ottar Gislason, things might not be as straightforward as they seem.

According to the YouTube description, the unexpectedly oversized package arrived at the camera shop in the video after an employee placed an order for one relatively tiny battery charger. It would appear that DHL didn’t think the package was protected enough, and they remedied this by strapping it to a giant wooden pallet.

I’m not sure what purpose this served, but who am I to question the professionals? Maybe I should start mailing everything on giant pallets. I feel like I’m missing out on something big.
