Army truck skids after Menora Tunnel, killing one and injuring six

A soldier was killed while six others were injured when an army truck skidded at KM257 of the North-South Expressway (northbound) after the Menora Tunnel, here yesterday.

Perak Fire and Rescue Department (JBPM) director Sayani Saidon said the department received a distress call at 4.59 pm, and teams from the Kuala Kangsar and Meru Raya Fire and Rescue Stations were dispatched to the scene.

“Five victims were extricated before the fire engines arrived, while two victims were trapped at the rear of the vehicle.

“The deceased victim was extricated at 5.54 pm, while another injured victim was freed at 6.14 pm,” she said in a statement.

The victims were sent to Kuala Kangsar Hospital and Taiping Hospital for treatment.
