Why Lee Teng Stayed On Massage Chair During Taiwan’s Earthquake Instead Of Running To His 7-Month-Old Son

In times of an emergency, most would expect parents to intuitively run towards their kids to protect them.

Or at least that was what Lee Teng's wife Gina thought.

The 32-year-old took to her Instagram Stories to tease her husband for his absurd behaviour that afternoon.

"When there was an earthquake, I screamed: 'Earthquake' and my child's dad only replied: 'Oh, yeah'," she lamented.

Gina, who’s from Taiwan, had returned home for Chinese New Year with Lee Teng, 41, and their seven-month-old son, Ellison. It was there that they felt the tremor from the earthquake with a magnitude of 5.6 that struck off the coast of northeastern Taiwan.

"Then he just continued lying on his massage chair," she said.

Gina was naturally baffled by how nonchalant her husband was.

"Why is it that I see other fathers running to their kids right away but the dad in our family is so calm. He is your biological son, right?" she then asked.

Lo and behold, Lee Teng actually had the most ridiculous and audacious answer for his wife.

"It's because I was on the massage chair, which was vibrating harder than the earthquake," he responded while reposting his wife's InstaStory, completing his joke with two laughing-till-cry emojis.

Guess he really wanted to sleep on the couch tonight.
