When renowned Taiwanese journalist Peter Hsui came across an elderly man selling XO sauce at a temporary stall in Taipei, his first instinct was to spread the word about his stall to his 130K Facebook followers to help him increase sales.

He also threw in a little trivia question to see if people knew that this wasn't a random uncle running a business in Zhongshan district.

In the video Peter shared, the man was standing behind a small, shabby table with two plastic chairs and was promoting his XO sauce to passers-by.

Peter first asked if anyone could recognise "this veteran senior who was so popular in Taiwan and Hong Kong back in the day".

He then revealed that he is actually Kwan Chung, the once renowned star who played a monk named Wu Hua Master in 1979 Wuxia series Chu Liu Xiang.

Kwan Chung is also the son of late Hong Kong actor Kwan Hoi-San, an acclaimed Cantonese opera actor from the 1940s to 1980s.

Peter urged his followers to "please support [him] more" whenever they are free so as to get the business thriving.

But little did Peter know just how well Kwan Chung is actually doing in life.

In an interview with Mirror Media five years ago, the former actor divulged that his late father actually left him so much inheritance that he can "last a lifetime without working at all".

He said that his dad had set up a charity foundation with "billions of HKD in it."

"Of course I'm not the only one using it, it's mainly used for charity," he explained.

So why was he manning a small stall on the streets if he's so rich?

The wealthy man's answer was: "Because I got nothing to do".

As the video was taken during the Covid19 period, Kwan Chung shared that he was "very bored" at that time and decided to put his culinary skills to good use by launching his XO sauce brand.

He actually has an office right upstairs, and was just there to give out flyers to promote his business. He once also revealed that he could make NT200,000 (S$8,900) a month selling sauce.

"I only have two things to do in my life now. One, make XO sauce. Two, play mahjong," he laughed.
