For the past few weeks, Hong Kong actress Rosina Lam has found herself in the news after a company filed a bankruptcy petition against her in the High Court.

The 37-year-old 2022 TVB Best Actress married finance executive Jason Mok in 2015, and they have been living in a HK$1.5bil (S$246mil) mansion in the upmarket The Peak district in Hong Kong. She is also the younger cousin of Hong Kong singer-actor Raymond Lam.

The bankruptcy petition was filed by Jadespring Limited, the owner of her Mount Austin property in Hong Kong.

Judicial records show that the hearing for the case has been postponed to August 26.

But that's not all.

Two investment firms, Athora Lux Invest SCSP and Apollo Credit Funds ICAV, have filed bankruptcy petitions for Rosina's husband after he allegedly incurred an outstanding HK$135mil (S$174mil) loan.

The bankruptcy order was reportedly granted in court in April this year.

Rosina, however, was quick to rubbish the speculations.

She told media that her husband's rental property company is involved in a lawsuit and is currently under the appealing process.

"This whole thing is baffling to me. The matter has been handed over to our lawyer, and I haven’t received any official notice," she said.

The actress also shared a lawyer's letter to address the issue before posting about the matter again on Weibo on May 30.

“Thank you all for your concern. I am not bankrupt. Please stop spreading rumours. The matter has been handed over to our lawyer!" she emphasised.

While the entire saga must have been distressing for the star, netizens, on the other hand, are enjoying the endless twists.

"Even dramas are not this exciting," mocked one such netizen, while another said they're "looking forward to the sequel in August" which is when Rosina's alleged hearing officially begins.

What in the schadenfreude is this?
